Low-cost Austrian airline Laudamotion will begin a new Kyiv-Vienna flight service from 1 February 2019. Flights will initially take place five times a week daily except for on Fridays and Sundays.
Laudamotion takes its name from former Austrian Formula One racing driver Niki Lauda, who owns a minority stake in the airline. The majority shareholder of Laudamotion is Ryanair, which completed the purchase of a 75% stake in the airline in August 2018.
Europe’s largest airline, Ryanair launched a series of flights from Kyiv and Lviv in autumn 2018. The airline has since unveiled plans for a significant expansion of its presence on the fast-expanding Ukrainian aviation market.
