The renewables wing of Ukrainian energy holding DTEK has signed a second contract with General Electric that will see the US giant supply equipment to double the capacity of the Zaporizhia region Prymorska wind farm. An initial agreement inked between DTEK and General Electric in December 2017 covered the supply of equipment to generate output of 100 MW at the wind farm. The signing of a second contract in October will now see total capacity increase to 200 MW by the end of 2018.

DTEK officials say their goal is to construct 1000 MW of solar and wind power plants in Ukraine by the end of 2019. This will require an estimated investment outlay in excess of EUR 1 billion. Ukraine’s renewable energy segment is currently undergoing significant expansion and attracting international investment as the country prioritizes energy independence amid an historic geopolitical split with Russia.
