Ukraine had the fourth highest share of contactless payments in the world during the fourth quarter of 2018, according to Mastercard Europe SA CEO Inga Andreieva.
The Mastercard executive said Ukraine’s high position globally reflected the significant levels of demand in Ukrainian society for the latest payment technologies, while also highlighting the readiness of Ukrainian consumers to embrace innovation.
A recent study conducted by Ukraine’s European Business Foundation forecast that up to 20% of all transactions in Ukraine in 2019 are set to be cashless as the country continues to move away from a predominantly cash-based economy.
