Figures released by Ukrsudprom Association in October highlighted sharp growth in Ukraine’s fruit and berry exports so far this year. In the first nine months of 2018, fruit and berry exports rose by 40% to total USD 157 million. The dominant export was walnuts, which accounted for USD 69 million of exports, with frozen fruits and berries at USD 61 million, while apples and pears totaled USD 10 million.
The European Union remained the main export market during this period, accounting for two-thirds of all international purchases. In monetary terms, the largest purchasers of Ukrainian fruit and berry exports were Poland (USD 32.3 million), France (USD 11.7 million), Belarus (USD 10.9 million), Turkey (USD 10.6 million), the Netherlands (USD 8.8 million), Germany (USD 7.4 million) and Italy (USD 7.2 million).
