Municipal authorities in Ivano-Frankivsk have signed a EUR 5.5 million contract to purchase 29 trolleybuses from Belarus company Belkommunmash. The purchase will be financed using funds provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as part of an ongoing project aiming to rejuvenate urban electric public transport in Ukraine.
Ivano-Frankivsk is the latest of a number of Ukrainian cities to acquire trolleybuses from Belkommunmash. Black Sea port city Odesa has received 47 of the buses, while Dnipro took delivery of 11 earlier this year. Ivano-Frankivsk will receive its new trolleybus fleet in spring 2019.
