Kyiv’s Sikorsky International Airport unveiled its new-look main terminal building on 23 May following extensive reconstruction works that have doubled the airport’s passenger capacity.
The approximately USD 23 million expansion includes the addition of 23 new check-in counters along with 12 passport control points, allowing the airport to accommodate 1040 departure passengers per hour, compared to 520 previously.
Further reconstruction plans are already in place as Sikorsky seeks to keep pace with soaring demand in Ukraine’s rapidly growing air travel industry.
Sikorsky International Airport is Ukraine’s second most popular air hub. It reported passenger growth of 52% in 2018, with a further 44% year-on-year increase in the first quarter of the current year.
