Premier Palace Hotel Kharkiv’s panoramic Sky Lounge restaurant has beaten off an array of international rivals to win the “Best Hotel Bar” category at the 2017 International Hospitality Awards, which were held in mid-February 2018 at Kyiv’s InterContinental Hotel.

A total of 315 hotels from countries throughout Central and Eastern Europe took part in this year’s nominations, with 101 hotels making through to the shortlists for 28 individual award categories. Kharkiv’s five-star Premier Palace Hotel managed to claim the Best Hotel Bar award for its Sky Lounge venue ahead of Budapest’s Buddha Bar Hotel, Tbilisi’s River Side Hotel, the Radisson Blu Sky Hotel in Estonia, and Slovakia’s Radisson Blu Carlton Hotel.

Construction of the Premier Palace Hotel Kharkiv was one of the centerpieces of the eastern Ukrainian capital’s preparations to serve as a host city during the UEFA Euro 2012 football championship. It is the first five-star hotel in the city and involved an investment of around USD 126 million. Oleksandr Yaroslavsky’s DCH Group managed the construction process. Since 2012, the hotel has emerged as a local landmark and regional hub in its own right, regularly hosting international forums and welcoming everyone from movie stars to heads of state.
